20 Trailblazers Lead The Way In Audi G28

happy-young-woman-with-key-sitting-in-neHow to Replace an audi replacement key fob G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 using a grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can trigger spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is audi key fob not working in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jumped chain link in the upper timing chain. The code won't show without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two pins for the connector and they have different functions but the most effective method to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is fully operational, it should be reading approximately 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this component, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had massive power loss as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car can start if the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is plugged in but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 and both function in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or in a local parts store. Test them out by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing, etc. In order to do this it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor Audi Key Blade (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could lead to an engine shutdown.

A failing G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, or an unfire when in the gear. It is probable that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you encounter any of these signs. They're inexpensive and easy to locate especially if they're an Bosch model like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is an option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be the reason behind a slew of problems in your car. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your Audi Key Replacement Cost Uk, as it transmits information to the ECU regarding how fast or slowly the engine is spinning. If this sensor fails, it can disrupt the performance of the transmission as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor Audi A3 Key Fob Replacement is located near the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It transmits a signal via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then processes the signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost and then transmitting it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these two points. This is a common feature across the audi connect key 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU You may also find them in wrecking yards.
